Krystal Shannan Spotlights - Cerise Deland
More Than You Know
Cerise Deland
When a va-va-voom redhead walks into Luke Hurley’s bar, he vows to
get to know her. But she escapes him every time, her family besieging her. Luke
wants to save her. Hell, he wants to savor her if he can only figure out how to
intrigue her…and nail her. Luke has his hands full of the classiest, funniest
female he’s ever met for one naughty night. But will she love him tomorrow?
Book
Information:
Genre – Erotic Romance
Series – 1Night Stand
Length – 11k
Excerpt:
“Hi, Luke Hurley.” His redhead stood right in front of him,
beaming at him so the world glowed suddenly more brightly in this dark crowded
room.
“Hi, there,” he said to her, as she inched closer to the bar. “I’m
so glad you came in.”
“Thish has got to be Rita. Right?” Teresa took a slow gander at
the woman he had told her kept him awake at night.
“Rita?” asked the lady in question, looking humored. “I’m—“
“Rita Hayworth. You bet!” Teresa clamped a hand on his lady’s arm
and peered at her like an X-ray machine. “Luke, you pegged her. That is who she
looks like. Gee. Lucky you, huh?”
Rita questioned him with a sideways grin. “Luke, I—”
“Teresa is my friend,” he explained, trying to keep Rita here
until he got her phone number and her real name.
“I’m his copyeditor!” Teresa put in. “His friend.”
“Yes, Teresa, and the lady would like to have her arm back.”
“Oh, don’t chu worry yourself none, Luke and Rita. I am leaving. I
am!”
He turned back to his redhead. “I’m glad you came in tonight. I’ve
been trying to find out your name. Went to the catering manager and asked about
the wedding here tomorrow, but she says the mother of the groom is a platinum
blonde and short.”
“She is,” Rita exclaimed, little chuckles escaping her.
Someone shouted out that he had to stop holding hands with the
bombshell and take his order. Where was his assistant bartender? He looked
around but tugged at Rita’s hand.
“Okay, okay!” Luke told him, but zeroed in on Rita. “I want to
call you. Ask you to dinner or drinks. Coffee, anything. I need your phone
number.”
“Really? Oh, Luke, please let me—”
“I’ll find a pencil and pad. And by the way, that gown is
unbelievable.” He had to tame his voice so he could speak about the
gold-sequined mermaid thing that made his cock twitch. “I think I just went
blind. Don’t move.”
He strode toward the register, found what he needed and stepped
toward her.
But her son and Blondie appeared beside her. Blondie was pouting.
The son raked his hair.
“I’m sorry. Tamara,” Rita bit off the words, never looking at her
future daughter-in-law as she took Luke’s pen and wrote on his paper. “But I am
the one who brought up Josh. And I will sit in the first pew. If you or your
parents don’t like it, too bad. And Josh, if your father or his new wife don’t like
it, tough.”
Luke watched the family drama, realizing why he hadn’t been able
to learn Rita’s name. She was the divorced wife of Mr. Silver-haired Banker.
And judging from the close ages of stepmother and son, Rita might actually be
wife numero dos.
The son cursed. “Tam, I want her to sit in the front pew. This is
my mother, and she deserves to take precedence.”
Ouch. Luke couldn’t help but look at Rita, who locked her gaze on
his and grinned.
Blondie stomped her foot. “I won’t do this to my daddy. He wants
this to look good for his friends. You know how he is about marriages made in
heaven and no divorce.”
“Well, Tam, next to golf, divorce is my father’s favorite
pastime,” Josh retorted, as Blondie huffed and made a beeline toward the door.
“Aw, hell. Mom, what can I do here?”
Before Rita could answer, he fled. To Luke’s dismay, Rita raised
her hands in frustration, threw him an apologetic look and followed her son.
Luke pounded his fist on the bar and the pad of paper jumped with
the blow. Numbers and words bounced around. He grabbed the sheet.

Krystal Shannan Interviews - Jenna Jaxon
Jenna
Jaxon
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a professor of theatre who is also a romance
novelist. I like drama all the
time. J I live with my family on the eastern
coast of Virginia, very beautiful country, and we share our home with a strange
menagerie of pets.
Did you always want to be an author?
I don’t think I did consciously, or I’d
have been an English major concentrating on creative writing. I always wanted to be a teacher, mostly
of history. Then I got into theatre
and when that bug bit me, I was a goner.
So now I have the best of all worlds--I teach theatre (including theatre
history) and I write historical novels.
Who could ask for more?
What is your favorite part of being a writer/author?
Creating my own worlds and making the
characters do what I want them to (most of the time). I guess that means I most like to play God. LOL
Tell us a little about your book.
7 Days of Seduction is an erotic romance novella
about a woman who parties too hardy one Friday night and wakes up to find she’s
had a ménage a trois with her ex-boyfriend and a gorgeous stranger. When the stranger shows back up--in her
shower no less--he convinces her to let him help her explore her sexuality
through a series of “colorful” adventures. After seven days they will celebrate with one more adventure
that promises to push her boundaries to the breaking point--if she can agree to
it.
7 Days of Seduction:
Ashley Thompson had a wild time at her party last Friday night. Maybe too wild. She wakes to find a video of her in the middle of a ménage a trois with her ex-boyfriend and a gorgeous stranger. Unable to remember anything about the night, other than the hot sex she sees on the computer screen, Ashley begins a search for Mr. Hunk. She has no luck until he unexpectedly shows up–in her shower.
Hunter Hopewell intends to introduce Ash to a variety of sexual experiences he finds fun and exciting. He proposes a week long series of “colorful” encounters designed to seduce Ashley out of her kink comfort zone.
As their week of escalating pleasure intensifies, Ashley must choose to let go of her inhibitions or risk losing the best damn lover she’s ever had.
Excerpt:
The bathroom door opened and closed. Her hands froze.
"Damn it, Sam. Why is it every time I take a shower you have to pee? Couldn't you just hold it for once? Or pee in a cup, for God's sake?"
"I'm not Sam. And I don't have to pee."
Ashley's eyes popped open and the bottle of body wash hit the tub with a loud thunk. The husky voice she'd heard on yesterday's video and in this morning's dream was richer in person. Sexier. Her heart took off like a deer after a shotgun blast. She peered at the shower door, seeing only a shadowy figure through the opaque glass. Well thank, God, for that. He couldn't see her either.
"Hello? Are you there, Ash?" The amusement in his tone brought her back to earth.
"Yeah, I'm here. And just who the hell are you?"
"I'm Hunter Hopewell. Sorry we didn't really get introduced the other night."
"No shit." Damn. The all-important name meant nothing. The spray from the shower roared in her ears and Ashley took a step toward the shower door.
"So who are you? I mean, you say Hunter Hopewell, but I don't know you. And you know me."
"Yes, I do. I've never met you, but I've been interested in you for a while now."
Despite the hot water, chills raced over her body, standing her hair on end. Oh, my God. A stalker. I've attracted a stalker. And I'm shut in a bathroom with him. Suddenly, she couldn't breathe.
"You work over in English at the university." He knew where she worked. "And I've seen you around the campus." He'd been watching her.
She wrapped her arms around her chest, shielding her body as best she could. Maybe Sam would come in.
"You're a beautiful girl, Ashley. With lots of potential."
Potential for what? Needing to breathe or pass out, she gasped in air.
"I think you should leave." Where the balls came from to utter that sentence, she had no idea.
"Why?" His voice rose an octave.
"Because you're scaring the crap out of me."
When did you start writing and when did you finish your
first book?
I started writing with
an eye to publication almost exactly four years ago. I started my first historical in January of 2009 and
finished it on July 31--all 187K words of it.
Where do you get your inspiration?
A lot of my inspiration comes from music--songs I hear on
the radio that beg me to flesh out their stories. 7 Days of Seduction is one such, inspired by Katy Perry’s
“Last Friday Night.”
Do you plot and outline or do you just write? Plotter or
Pantser?
Plotter all the way. I can’t start a project without writing
out a detailed outline. I can vary
from the outline, but I have to have it done in order to start writing.
Can you tell us a little about the process of getting your
first book published?
My very
first story published was actually not a very dramatic tale. I’d written it for a contest at a
conference whose restriction was that the story be no more than 2500 words.
Afterwards I sent it to a publisher, Books To Go Now that took short fiction,
and they accepted it. I only wish
they were all that easy. Getting
my first full length novel, Only Scandal Will Do, was quite a different
story. I queried and got rejected 40+ times. Twice I was asked to revise and resubmit (that really gets
your hopes up, let me tell you) and then ultimately rejected. So I queried and
revised for about a year and a half, until Lyrical Press offered me a contract.
What book have you most recently released?
7 Days of Seduction was released
in October from New Dawning International Bookfair.
What was your favorite part of the book?
I think my favorite
part was the chapter with the wax and cold play. Ashley’s reactions to all of Hunter’s adventures were fun to
write.
Rate your story in terms steaminess?
Think the steam pipe that blew in New
York several years ago. Definitely
steamy.
Do you have another book in the works?
I’ve got three historicals I’m working
on right now. Only Marriage
Will Do, the book that comes after Only Scandal Will Do, is out to
beta readers; my Victorian novel, As Long As You’re Mine, is in revisions and
will be sent out to agents in January; and a series of three medieval novellas
that form one cohesive book, Time Enough to Love. The first novella, Betrothal, I
hope to self-publish by the end of January.
What advice would you give new authors? What have you learned
about the
business?
The
best advice I can give new authors is to just keep writing. No matter what. The first thing very good friend, Judi
McCoy, told me was “You can fix crap.
You can’t fix nothing.”
What I’ve learned about the business is that you cannot
stop. You must continue writing,
reading, promoting constantly in order to keep your name out in front of the
public.
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxers
Pizza or hamburger?
Pizza
Beer, Wine, or mixed drink? Bailey’s Irish Cream
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would
it be? Would you
write or read there, or do something else?
I’d spend a week in England, going
around writing down descriptions of places to use in my historicals.
(Character Questions)
What were your first impressions of each other?
Ashley: I
thought, “Oh, my God. A stalker. I've attracted a stalker. And I'm shut in a
bathroom with him.”
Hunter: I
thought, “Ashley is a girl who might just take a risk. Might like a little
color in her life.” And I so
wanted to provide that color.
What’s your favorite characteristic of each other?
Ashley: He’s
very forceful. I just love a
take-charge kind of guy.
Hunter: She’s
very willing to try new things.
Well, sometimes she needs a nudge, but she’s game for almost anything.
What are your plans for the near future?
Hunter: That’s
going to depend on Jenna, but I think Ash and I are going to grow together as a
couple, explore other avenues other than non-stop sex.
Ashley: Not
that we’re giving that up, though.
Hunter: No, not
at all. But we’re getting to know
one another in other intimate ways.

Laying Down the Law

Seeking sanctuary could be the hottest mistake she ever made.
The TripleHorn Brand, Book 1
A lifetime ago, Zuri Prescott kicked the dirt off her boots and
ditched her small-time small town for the glam city life—and lived to regret
it. When she’s framed for a bank job, she lights out for home, seeking refuge
with her old high school sweetheart while she figures out her next steps. Only
she discovers that the boy she left behind is the last man she should trust.
Sheriff Colt Triplehorn knows trouble when he sees it, especially
when it comes in the form of a familiar trespasser, caught naked between an
angry bull and her underwear. Sure she’s up to her usual no good, he grants her
sanctuary at his ranch—the better to keep an eye on her, and purge her from his
system once and for all.
Reconnection is sweet and hot, but the heat can’t hide the truth.
When Colt inevitably finds out what Zuri’s running from, it’s too late to put
the fire out, and he’s got a career-compromising choice on his hands. Follow
the letter of the law, or follow his heart.
Product Warnings: When a sheriff captures the girl who got away,
expect revenge so hot it leaves brands on two lonely hearts…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
She’d landed on her knees, her pantyhose shredding
on impact—the long, fat ladder that rippled up her thigh as strangely upsetting
as the masked man behind her who grabbed her by the hair and pulled her up to
face the security alarm.
She’d pressed the buttons on the key pad, disarming
the premises alarm and dropped her hands. But another nudge of hard steel
against her back, and his hushed, “The vault alarm too, sweetheart,” had her
punching a second set of numbers before he hustled her around the corner toward
the vault, out of sight of her manager who waited in the parking lot for the
all-clear signal.
The vault operated on a timer. At any other time of
day, she wouldn’t have been able to open it—a fact that didn’t register until
later. She’d spun the two combination locks, heard the inner mechanisms clang
as they released, and he’d reached around her to grab the lever and push it
down. The large steel door swung open.
The thief had shoved her through the anteroom with
security deposit boxes lining both walls, heading straight for the locked door
at the rear. Again, he’d waited while she found the key and opened the door,
then shoved the mesh interior gate inward.
Forcing her to her knees, he’d wrapped her wrists
and ankles in duct tape, and pulled a hood over her head.
Then she’d been left to shiver on the floor,
listening to the sounds he made as she followed him in her mind through the
gate while he scooped stacks of cash into a bag. One side only. Later, the
assistant manager pointed out that the thief must have been timing himself, a
real pro, because he’d skipped the temptation of pausing to finish the sweep.
Less than five minutes had passed since they’d
entered. Another two and the manager would call the police.
Krystal Shannan Interviews - Sara Brookes - Reclaiming the Edge
Please help me welcome Sara Brookes to the blog today with her steamy new release - Reclaiming the Edge!
First, tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Sara Brookes and I’ve been writing professionally for five years. I’m not someone that sticks to one particular genre or heat level in romance, mostly because I love different aspects of different genres. Be it contemporary, paranormal, futuristic/sci-fi or urban fantasy—if the story and/or characters interest me, I’m going to write the book. For the past three years, it’s been all about the BDSM & erotic romance for me.
Did you always want to be an author?
When I was younger, yes! But as an adult, no. I wrote a bunch of short, cute stories when I was a young teen. But as a young adult, I was newly married and writing was the last thing on my mind. In fact, there was a long stretch of time in my twenties where I didn’t write at all.
What made you choose to write romance?
I’m a sucker for a love story. Even during high-adrenaline action/adventure movies, I want to see the hero (or heroine) get the girl (or guy) in the end.
What is your favorite part of being a writer/author?
Creating something from nothing, even if I complain about it. *g*
Tell us a little about your book. What inspired you to write it?
Reclaiming the Edge will release from Ellora’s Cave on October 5th and I’m so excited to share this piece with readers! The trio were first introduced in Ragged Edge and though I haven’t worked with them in well over a year, they are side characters in another book I was working at the time. They seemed to be very vocal about the story they wanted told that had nothing to do with that book. And the rest, they say, is history!
The sexual journey of Dalton, Cade and Erin begins in Ragged Edge. You won’t want to miss the beginning of their lusty connection!
It isn’t a birthday celebration without a little pain to chase the pleasure—at least according to Dalton and Cade, the two men who stole Erin’s heart. Relationships are complicated and Erin has been retreating—both emotionally and physically—from her lovers. Pushed away for reasons they don’t understand, and determined to erode her resistance, the men devise a wicked plan. They intend to use two very special gifts and one captivating night to reclaim her submission. But Erin’s trip to subspace extracts a heart-wrenching confession that threatens to rip the triad apart forever.
Warning: Contains a well-trained, dirty-talking submissive who succumbs to the commands of her Master, custom nipple clamps, tongue wagging oral sex, a well-deserved punishment with a butt plug, men who share more than a few heart-racing kisses and a custom-made-work-of-art sex chair that shows this M/M/F triad just how powerful their passion for one another is.
And that’s just chapter one.
And that’s just chapter one.
Erin Corvus rubbed at the tension headache building between her eyes. Tired and cranky after a long day at work, she wanted nothing more than to go home and pull the covers over her head. Most of all, she didn’t want to think. She’d spent so much time being miserable lately, she’d forgotten what it meant to be happy.
Blindly going through the motions of her life had become her modus operandi.
She’d gotten so caught up in a huge project for a client tonight, she’d nearly hit the ceiling when her cell phone vibrated. The text from Dalton had indicated the importance of meeting him and Cade at the shop around ten. Now fifteen past, neither lover was anywhere to be found. As sheriff for their small, sleepy town of Collington Creek, Kincade Roberts was usually a stickler about schedules. Hopefully he wasn’t late because something serious had happened to one of the town’s residents.
She tossed her key on the side table, annoyed she’d driven across town when she could have gone home, taken a shower and curled up in her favorite sweats. Instead she stood in the back room of Dalton Shaw’s motorcycle shop, Iron Cruisers. There were too many memories here she wasn’t interested in remembering. As she wrapped her arms in front of her, she did her best not to look at the bed.
It was so cold and barren—just like her.
Annoyed with the sight of the location that had once been such a place of immense pleasure, she turned. The oddly shaped piece of furniture in front of her gave her pause. It seemed out of place amid the other pieces of Dalton’s bondage equipment tucked against the walls. A shimmering aquamarine fabric draped over the item, the iridescence of the cloth causing it to appear to move and flow even though the air in the room remained still
The shade of blue was the same as her eyes.
Curious now, she stepped closer, brushing her fingers against the surface. Smooth and silky, the fabric under the tips of her fingers triggered a warm feeling low in her belly. She’d worn a flowing dress made of this very same fabric the last time Dalton’s ropes had bound her wrists and ankles. He’d secured her in place to a set of chains that dangled from the ceiling, forcing her to watch while Cade knelt before him to pay loving attention to his cock.
The reminder that the devious torture had lasted for hours caused the warmth to flash to hot, burning through her so swiftly, she gasped. She took a moment to mourn the sensation that had been absent recently. Ever since her life had taken a first-class nose dive into the shitter.
Swallowing the self pity, she clutched at the covering and pulled. The material fell away, slowly revealing the treasure it hid. Interest lost in the fabric, she let it fall to the floor as she stepped forward.
Calling it furniture didn’t do the piece justice.
It was a work of art.
Dalton’s hands had been all over this thing. His craftsmanship and attention to detail was once again impeccable. A solid sheet of brushed metal served as the side support while stunning blue leather curved sensuously in a sweep that resembled the contours of a woman’s body.
She reached out, brushing her hand over the buttery leather cushion that came to her waist. She followed the arc as it dipped off to her right into a deep curve that begged to cradle someone. It swept up again, flowing into a graceful hump no higher than her knee.
The luscious curves seduced the eye as well as the mind.
“I haven’t seen that look in your eyes in a very, very long time.”
“I haven’t seen that look in your eyes in a very, very long time.”
Do you plot and outline or do you just write? Plotter or Pantser?
I’m a hybrid of the two. I can never fully plot a book before I write it, but I can’t fully pants a book either. I usually know the end of the story before I even start it. In fact, one of my books (the award-winning Midnight’s Ghost, a futuristic romance) was written backward. Don’t ask me how, I haven’t been able to duplicate it since.
Can you tell us about the process of getting your first book published?
A lot hard work getting the book into a format I was happy with submitting. Stressing out while waiting to hear back once it was submitted. And a whole lot of determination to not take the rejections to heart. Early on the process, I think that’s the hardest thing. It’s not personal. So don’t take it that way. You just have to dig your heels in. My outlook was to prove all those people wrong.
What advice would you give new authors? What have you learned about the business?
One of my favorite pieces of advice to pass on is read, read and then read some more. Never stop reading because you’re on the path to publication or you’re already there.
Do you have another book in the works?
I always have books in the work! I have probably a handful that are all in various stages of the process right at this moment. I just turned in a futuristic erotic romance with some lovely D/s scenes to my editor that I’m waiting to hear her thoughts on. It’s actually the first of a trilogy, so I’m starting to play around with the other two books in the series.
What do you like to do in your free time, besides read and write of course?
I love video games. I’ve had gaming binges before where I’ve spend entire weekends playing. It’s actually a great way to blow off steam if I get stuck on some plot or storyline for a book I’m currently working on. It gets my brain off book related things. Many a plot line complication has been solved while playing video games.
Where do you dream of going on vacation?
I would love to spend a week on a small island in the middle of nowhere where technology isn’t around. No cell phones, no email, no computers, nothing. Ah….bliss.
Boxers or Briefs? On the right man, doesn’t matter!
Cookies or cake? I’m a sucker for chocolate chip cookies.
Pizza or hamburger? Hamburger.
Beer, Wine, or mixed drink? Beer.
(Hero/Heroine Character Questions)
What were your first impressions of each other?
They’re all otherwise indisposed, so I’ll answer for them. *g* All three met in a very unusual circumstance. The boys were celebrating *AHEM* and Erin found herself unable to look away. So, needless to say, she had quite the first impression of them!
What’s your favorite characteristic of each other?
Best if I answer this one too, or rather not. See Dalton has a mouth and he’s not afraid to use it. His flair for specific language has rubbed off on Erin, so they’d both tell you point blank without any kind of censoring.
