Krystal Shannan Features - Normandie Alleman

Venetian Love Knots
by Normandie Alleman
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Venice, Allison Fox will find love in the arms of two men. Her past collides with her future in a battle for her heart. Which one will win?
Travelling to Venice to be the maid of honour in her best friend’s wedding sounds like a great vacation, and a romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day. But when Allison Fox discovers who the best man is, she is torn between duty and self-preservation.
It has taken Allison four years to put her tumultuous relationship with the rodeo cowboy behind her after a violent incident ripped them apart. Now Allison must find a way to face her past and find closure with her old flame. But will she be able to put the past behind her?
Cole is the Texas cowboy who has never got over his love for Allison. But when he declares his love for her after all this time, is she strong enough to walk away from the intense passion they share?
For years Nico, a handsome Italian, was committed to nothing but his work. Nico never expected he would meet an American beauty who would awaken in him a desire to love again. Once he finds her, Nico vows to never let Allison go.
It will be a Valentine’s Day to remember, but who will win Allison’s heart?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Allison held her plastic cup in a death grip as she absently rattled the ice cubes in it. She stared out of the bubble-shaped window on her flight to Rome. The vodka had done little to calm her nerves. Neither People, Cosmo, nor Vogue had been any help distracting her. Allison’s mind was determined to go back to the one man who had caused her more pain and heartache than she had ever known. The man whom she would soon see for the first time in four years.

She bit her lip and shut her eyes tightly. Allison remembered the day her best friend Marcia had told her that she was getting married in Venice the week of Valentine’s Day. Marcia had asked her to be her maid of honour and Allison had immediately jumped at the chance. She loved to travel, and she wanted to be there for Marcia.

A couple of weeks later, Allison had just walked into her apartment when she’d got a call from Marcia. “Allie, honey, it’s me, Marsh. Are you sitting down? I need you to sit down.”

Allison had set her groceries down on the floor and sat.

“Honey, Alfonso has gotten Cole to agree to be his best man,” she’d said.

Marcia’s announcement had been met with complete silence.

“Allison? You still there?” Marcia had asked.

Cole. For years Allison had prayed for indifference towards Cole. She had hated him for years. What she felt for Cole was either unmitigated passion or hate. She didn’t know any in between. And what she had wound up craving was indifference. The last time she’d seen him, four years ago, what she had prayed for, what she had begged God for, was to feel indifference towards him. He had almost ruined her life.

Normandie will award a "Venetian Love Knots” gift pack which includes a Tote Bag and T-Shirt (winner's size) with the cover graphic and a $30 Amazon GC. (international giveaway). Be sure to leave a comment with your email address!

  3. Thanks so much for hosting me today, Krystal. Glad we met a couple of weeks ago on Sneak Peek Sunday!

    Anas - I actually started writing this book for a Valentine's Day call for submissions for Total E-Bound. If I remember correctly they were looking for menage and hot Italian men. My original submission actually was shorter because of the word count they were looking for, and got lost in cyberspace when I submitted it. (For real!) When I checked on it - they were like, "We didn't get it." So then I was free to add to the story, beef up the plot and the characters and make it the book I really wanted. It had a roundabout trip to being published, but I'm glad it turned out the way it did. :)

    1. Hi Lyra. I have lots of interests. (too many, probably. Lol) My husband plays semi-pro football and most of my kids play sports so I go to lots of games. We have a house full. I bake and cook a lot, love needle-point, and fiber arts but never seem to find the time.

    1. Hi Hope,
      I had some input into on the cover. I pictured it a lot like this. In the book, Allison is bound with silky, white ropes so I had envisioned her wrists tied with a white bow. But when the designer did it in black - it looked so incredible - I loved it immediately!

  7. Who would you like to play your hero and heroine, should your book be picked for a movie?

    1. Oh Lana, what a good question! I'm not sure if it should be a movie. Maybe a mini-series. Seeds for a sequel have been planted in my mind recently....(I'm so excited!)

      As for casting...for Allison, a lovely blonde unknown would be perfect, and Jim Caviezel would make a great Nico, and for Cole - Paul Walker. It was fun choosing the guys for the trailer, I know that!

  12. I like the look of the italian stranger in the video, I hope she'll choose him, if the cowboy, wont do something redeeming, that is and it should be a big gesture!

  13. Lydia, that's a great idea. I shared a Valentine's recipe in the February Total E-Bound newsletter. Maybe I'll post a recipe on my blog soon. One of my daughters is pestering me to bake Blarney Stones for St. Patrick's Day. They are yummy. We always have a big feast. I'll make a note to blog it on my site.

    I don't want to give anything away girls, but if you read some of the reviews on Goodreads, you'll see there is a pervasive feeling about Cole. Let's just say I had a blast writing him, even though he is a bit of a devil. I loved in Amanda P's review when she says that Allison is "dickmatized" by Cole! Lol.

  14. I'd love to have something interesting to try out and I don't think I've had Blarney Stones, though a cake or pie would also be nice ;)

    Ah Goodreads wasn't working for me for the most part, so I'll have to look it up later.

  15. Blarney Stones are like a cake with a delicious icing, crushed peanuts on top, served with coffee ice cream. YUM!

    And that review with the "dickmatized" reference is actually posted on Let's Get Romantical Today:

    Goodreads was giving me trouble too. :(

  22. The cover is so gorgeous! I love the excerpt and blurb and it is now officially on my TBR list. Nothing like a good love triangle to keep my mind off of my non-existent love life!
